Chestnut honey

Chestnut honey is a honey of the finest quality. Our chestnut honey has multiple awards from many competitions. We collect it on our estate on a hill above the village Kosna near the town Dvor na Uni in Banovina where the biggest chestnut forests in Europe can be found. Banovina has 1700 hectares of chestnut, used as a building material for ages, less for firewood and honey production.

Chestnut honey has a typical dark yellow to reddish colour, strong and pungent smell and a slightly bitter taste. Helps with digestion (stomach, liver, bile, duodenum ). It is recommended for stomach ulcers, jaundice, urinary tract bacteria as well as heartburn and stomach acid.

It is adored by young and old because of its recognizable – aromatic flavour and scent. Of all the European sorts of honey only the chestnut honey has to have 85% pollen count of chestnut, unlike other sorts of honey, that can have 15-45% pollen of the dominant species giving the honey its sort.

Because of its high iron content it is recommended for anemia. Chestnut honey expands peripheral vascular system, also helping with weak circulation. Contains a high amount of minerals and is one of the sort with the highest pollen count.

Chestnut honey is suitable for homemade cookies and gingerbread, because of its royal aroma. Also often used with tea.
